Upcoming Speaking Engagements

Show Me the Money: Prove Privacy’s ROI With the Metrics That Really Matter
- Ron De Jesus, Field Chief Privacy Officer, Transcend
- Avishai Ostrin, Founder and CEO, TrustIZ
- Lauren Reid, President and Principal Consultant, The Privacy Pro
- Aaron Weller, Leader, Privacy Engineering Center of Excellence, HP
As a privacy leader, defining privacy’s ROI is the most important thing you can do to help ensure your program’s success. A definitive case for ROI will facilitate future buy-in from leadership, help you garner more support across your organization, and of course — give you a stronger case to request (and receive) more program resources. But with a sea of metrics to choose from, it is hard to know where to start. This session will cover how to find and deploy the metrics that matter, giving you the tools you need to draw a clear connection between privacy projects and your company’s bottom line.
What you will learn:
- How to justify your privacy budget using metrics that matter to leadership.
- How to quantify revenue won or lost in the context of privacy.
- Why looking at the number of DPA’s negotiated or privacy inquiries that lead to a deal is more important than the number of privacy requests fulfilled.
- How to prove that allocating resources to your team can drive revenue for your business.

Past Speaking Engagements
- Statutory MadLibs: Artificial Intelligence and Data Act Edition
- IAPP Canadian Privacy Symposium, Toronto, May 26, 2023
As part of a series of blog posts on Bill C-27, Dr. Teresa Scassa published a game of Statutory MadLibs to highlight the fact that some of the most important parts of the proposed Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA) are effectively left blank.
Through an interactive, fun, and hopefully somewhat absurd game of MadLibs, panelists will offer their perspectives as legal, technical, and business experts and ask session participants to weigh in on what the AIDA does and does not include, and what the regulations should and should not include.
Takeaways:
- Three different and sometimes conflicting critiques of the strengths and shortcomings of the proposed AIDA
