FAQ

Private Group Training FAQ

We offer a wide range of privacy courses that includes hands-on workshops, awareness training for all employees, specific role-based training (such as HR, sales and marketing) and privacy certification training.

We usually have between 6-12 students in our private classes.

Yes we do! We will supplement course content by providing the latest updates on privacy laws affecting your organization. To make the content even more relevant to attendees, we often include specific content from an organization’s privacy program as such as their privacy notice or privacy policy. Depending on the customization required, there may be an additional cost.

Not at all. Those who take our certification courses have the option of taking the course without the exam which needs to be decided prior to registering for the class. If after the class the students decide that they would like to challenge the exam, it can be purchased separately for $550 USD. Please note that if the course + exam bundle is purchased at the same time, you will save money than if you purchase each separately.

We provide minor customization at no additional cost and can also tailor the content to your organization’s needed. We allow flexibility when scheduling classes to suit your organization’s needs. We also recommend our instructors signing a non-disclosure agreement so that participants can openly discuss issues related to the organization. And our private classes benefit from cost savings when compared to the cost of our public courses.

We provide classes both in-person and virtually. We recommend half-days to maximize the chances of student success.

Privacy Certification FAQ

The CIPP/C (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada) is a foundational privacy certification specifically designed for Canadian privacy professionals.  The CIPP/C covers the 10 privacy principles, Canadian private, public and health sector privacy laws with several case studies to help illustrate concepts covered in the course.  We recommend the CIPP/C to those with minimal exposure or experience in the privacy field.

Learn more about the CIPP/C on our Privacy Certification Training page

The Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) is designed for those privacy professionals that are privacy officers, aspire to be a privacy officer or work in a privacy office.  This certification covers essential components of a privacy management program such as developing and implementing a privacy program, creating a personal information inventory, developing a privacy policy, data subject rights, employee privacy training and preparing for a data breach.

We recommend the CIPM course to those who have taken the CIPP/C course or have previous privacy experience.

Learn more about the CIPM on our Privacy Certification Training page

The short answer is yes but we recommend that those who take the CIPM either have taken the CIPP/C course or had some prior experience in privacy. The CIPP/C course covers privacy basics, fundamentals and Canadian privacy laws which are not covered in the CIPM course.
