PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP
Working Sessions
Professional Membership includes two working sessions each month. The Focused Working Session goes deep on a specific, predetermined topic. Privacy Problem-Solving is to address the questions and challenges members are dealing with in real time.
Focused Working Sessions
Once a month, members meet for a Focused Working Session on a specific area of privacy work, such as PIAs, third-party risk management, website privacy or data mapping. Topics are announced well in advance, so members know what is coming and can decide which sessions are relevant to what they are working on.
The session gives members direct access to Lauren Reid’s 20 years of consulting experience on that topic. Lauren introduces the relevant materials from the Resource Library, explains the work behind them, and answers questions. A completed example might show what ultimately worked; the session is where members can ask what came before it, what else was tried, why a particular approach was chosen, and how it has changed after doing similar work for different organizations.
The discussion can also get into the business context that is difficult to capture in a finished deliverable. A PIA session, for example, might cover who to speak with, what to ask, what you need to understand before the conversation, and what has made those conversations more or less effective in practice.

Privacy Problem Solving
Privacy Problem-Solving is a monthly session where members bring the questions, situations, and decisions they are dealing with in their own work and talk them through with other experienced privacy professionals. There is no predetermined topic; the discussion is shaped by the questions members bring.
Sometimes you want someone to “explain it like I’m five.” Sometimes you have a highly technical question, or you understand the issue but have no idea where to start. In each case, what you need is a conversation with people who understand the work well enough to help you get oriented, test your understanding, and figure out what to do next. For example:
"We're preparing for the new CCPA cybersecurity audit requirements, and our CISO believes our SOC 2 report covers it. I don't know security audits well enough to tell. What should I understand before that conversation?"
"How are other companies responding to wiretapping claims?"
"What are people doing about the U.S. DOJ Bulk Data Transfer rule?"
"Does anyone have firsthand experience with a privacy software vendor I'm considering?"
Privacy Problem-Solving sessions are never recorded. Members may not record or transcribe them or use AI meeting assistants, note-takers, bots, or similar tools to capture the conversation, except for an approved accessibility accommodation arranged in advance and disclosed to the group.

The Working Sessions FAQ
Answers to common questions about the two monthly virtual events.-
It is a monthly session on one area of privacy work, such as PIAs, third-party risk management, website privacy, or data mapping. Lauren walks through the related Resource Library materials and explains the thinking behind them: what was tried before, what didn't work, and why the current approach holds up.
-
Any question you are dealing with in your own work. It might be a highly technical issue, something you want explained from the ground up, or a problem you understand but don't know where to start on. Recent examples include whether a SOC 2 report covers the new CCPA cybersecurity audit requirements, how companies are responding to wiretapping claims, and firsthand experience with privacy software vendors.
-
Lauren Reid, founder of The Privacy Pro, leads both sessions. She brings 20 years of privacy consulting experience, and members add their own experience from across industries and jurisdictions.
-
It depends on the session. In a Focused Working Session, the first instructional part is recorded and made available on demand, then the recording stops before the open member discussion. Privacy Problem-Solving sessions are never recorded.
-
You can watch the recorded part of any Focused Working Session on demand, alongside the related Resource Library materials. Privacy Problem-Solving is not recorded, so those conversations stay with the people in the room.
-
No preparation is required. Members get the related Resource Library materials before each Focused Working Session and can review them if they want to.
-
Topics are announced well in advance on the Privacy Events Calendar. You can see what is coming and pick the sessions most relevant to your work.
-
Privacy Problem-Solving sessions are never recorded. Members may not record or transcribe them or use AI note-takers, bots, or similar tools. The only exception is an approved accessibility accommodation arranged in advance and disclosed to the group.
-

-
Yes. The Professional Membership is a private, application-based group for experienced in-house privacy professionals, including privacy leaders and CPOs. Members meet twice a month in small working sessions led by Lauren Reid.
